Charlie's Place 9/4/2016

On day three of being intensely intoxicated in a row, my roommates, our friend Jake, and I left to go to Charlie’s Place.  Located on Foothill and Santa Rosa road in San Luis Obispo, Charlie’s Place is a restaurant that is been serving up delicious food since 1978. After parking, my crew and I walked to the establishment until we were interrupted by someone shouting my name. As I turned, I saw that it was my boss. We exchanged some small talk and he introduced me to his wife, his newborn son, and his father-in-law as they were having lunch together. He then asked me what I was up to and if I was planning on joining the mass of people next door at Charlie’s Place. I confirmed his suspicions and told him that my crew and I were going to Charlie’s Place for their Sunday morning bottomless mimosas (Oh did I not mention before? Charlie’s Place has BOTTOMLESS mimosas every Sunday from 10-2pm. Every alcoholics dream <3). My boss then responded with “Well I don’t want
to keep you guys waiting” and with that my crew and I walked off to Charlie’s. I know that wasn’t very professional of me but during non-work days I won’t hold off on showing my true colors. Once we walked through the doors of Charlie’s Place we immediately knew that we needed to do some catch up. Most of the tables at Charlie’s were full, and every occupied table had at least one mimosa pitcher on it. The tables were occupied with free spirited college aged kids most likely excited that the summer vibes were still flowing until school starts back up on the 22nd. The hostess sat us next to the table that utilized the bottomless deal the most out of everyone there. Once our waitress came we told her that we want what they’re having, and when it came down to food ordering I’m very proud of my friends to say that they all ordered the breakfast burrito (including myself, duhhh). Charlie’s Place has two different breakfast burritos, the standard, and the “hangover” version, and although I was a little hungover I decided on the standard burrito with chorizo for meat. The burritos came out pretty fast and I quickly starting eating mine. I experienced the breakfast burrito here during my first round of preliminary research and I really enjoyed it, and I have looked forward to this time where I can finally blog about Charlie’s burrito. Probably what makes Charlie’s Place breakfast burrito stand out the most is the yummy hash browns that they put into it, and how it’s only $6.95 for a large burrito! The atmosphere is also pretty good; per most places in San Luis Obispo they have a nice outdoor seating area. They also have a bar with tons of bottles of alcohol behind it, which always gives me a warm feeling in my heart. If I had to give a downside to their atmosphere I would say that it was loud, and so loud that we couldn’t hear the music. However, the table to the right of us (the ones that probably cause Charlie’s Place to lose the most amount of money on) took the courtesy to sing almost every song to the rest of the restaurant. Their drunken rendition of Taylor Swift’s “22” was beautiful; I could really feel the passion in their voices. Although the spontaneous karaoke was a highlight of the visit, I can’t promise this during everyone’s visit at Charlie’s Place, I feel as thought it might just be a special Sunday morning sorta deal. So without further ado my scores for Charlie’s Place are the following 4.5/5 for taste, a 4/5 for atmosphere, and a 4.5/5 for price. And with that being said I got to get back to the post mimosa after party that’s taking place in my house, we’re celebrating bottomless mimosas with more mimosas.

Sincerely,
-Tipsy San Luis Obispo Breakfast Burrito Blogger

  1. you gave the Taqueria de Santa Cruz burrito a 4.5/5 for price at $7.65. You gave the Charlie's Place burrito a 4.5/5 for price as well at $6.95. That is a 10% difference in price. How did they get the same score??

  2. Hello Kaelen Golden, I am happy that you are also invested in the state of San Luis Obispo breakfast burritos. I see how it can be confusing that the two establishments have different breakfast burrito prices but received the same rating for price. I give the establishments price rating based off of how much burrito you get per dollar you pay. Therefore a $10 burrito that's 1 pound would get a better score than a $10 that's a 1/2 pound. Makes sense? Let me know if you have any other questions on my procedure! Thank you.
